Addio a Paolo Poli. Il grande attore fiorentino si è spento all’età di 86 anni. Maestro della commedia, con il suo stile e la sua inconfondibile eleganza, Poli e’ stato tra i piu’ importanti attori teatrali e intellettuali italiani. Con una comicità mai volgare, ha portato sul palcoscenico l’en travestì, ha fatto prosa, macchiette, raccontato fiabe.
L’istrionico attore fiorentino, laureato in letteratura francese, e’ stato tra i primi personaggi pubblici in Italia dichiaratamente omosessuali. Nato nel 1929, ha spaziato tra i cinema e la tv e, negli anni ’70, con le sue favole ha tenuto compagnia a un’intera generazione. Una vita dedicata al palcoscenico, calcato fino a pochi anni fa, superati gli 80, con lo spettacolo ‘Aquiloni’, tratto da Giovanni Pascoli. Dal debutto in teatro, nel 1958, con Finale di partita di Samuele Beckett, Poli arriva a Roma grazie a un book di foto scattate dall’amico Franco Zeffirelli. Dopo Roma, e’ stata la volta di Genova dove ha cominciato a mostrare sul palcoscenico la sua ironia, la sua fine comicità, la sua irriverenza fatta di giochi di parole e espressioni del volto. Grande intellettuale, Poli ha scritto e diretto numerose opere teatrali.
“La sua vita e la sua opera di artista libero e geniale sono un dono di amore per Firenze e per la cultura italiana”, afferma il sindaco Dario Nardella.
“L’ultimo gesto di quel dono – prosegue – l’ha compiuto inaugurando con tutti noi l’indimenticabile riapertura, dopo vent’anni di abbandono, del Teatro Niccolini, la ‘sua’ casa. Il destino ha voluto che l’ultima sua apparizione pubblica avvenisse nel cuore culturale e storico di Firenze, in un indimenticabile racconto della sua vita che oggi e’ diventato il suo testamento artistico”.
