Beh dimenticatevi questo “vecchio” stereotipo, perché le cose sono cambiate, anzi, “aggiornate”.
Negli ultimi anni infatti c’è stato un progressivo avvicinamento degli anziani al mondo tecnologico, della telefonia e dei social, tanto da non avere più nulla da invidiare alla generazione dei “nativi digitali”.
La maggior parte di questi ha appreso l’uso del computer e di internet dai nipoti, creando un interessante paradosso, uno scambio di ruoli: c’erano una volta i nonni, preziose miniere di informazioni e dispensatori di consigli forgiati sulle proprie esperienze, sempre pronti ad indirizzare al meglio i propri nipoti.
Poi qualcosa è cambiato: i nipoti hanno cominciato a trovare risposte alle loro domande su Google, accantonando i nonni che, inevitabilmente, di fronte alle nuove tecnologie, diventavano “obsoleti”.
Con l’avvicinamento dei nonni al mondo digitale però, questo rapporto “insegnante-alunno” sembra essere tornato, con uno scambio di ruoli.
I nonni, o meglio, i “cyber nonni”, usano internet principalmente per controllare la propria posta elettronica e per leggere i giornali, ma mostrano anche il loro lato social: infatti rappresentano circa l’8,2% degli utenti complessivi.
Riflettendoci bene in effetti, sono gli stessi cyber nonni a poter insegnare qualcosa ai propri nipoti sull’uso dei social network: basta pensare allo slogan di Facebook “aiutare a connettersi e rimanere in contatto con le persone della propria vita”, effettivamente rispettato dagli over 60 che usano i social per cercare persone che hanno fatto parte della loro vita “reale” e che ora vogliono che queste entrino a far parte del loro mondo virtuale.
Ma oltre al mondo social, anche gli acquisti online entrano nel mirino degli anziani internauti: il 18% si diletta a cercare prodotti su internet, accostando questa nuova realtà alle classiche offerte che trovano sul volantino del negozio del proprio quartiere.
Una realtà, quella dello shopping online, che però nasconde delle insidie dietro messaggi pubblicitari e mail che provano a trarre in inganno gli anziani. Situazioni che però non sono del tutto nuove a questa fascia di età che anche nella vita al di fuori del web, ha a che fare con individui che cercano di approfittarsi.
Anche il modo di informarsi viene rivisitato: anche se il buon vecchio odore del giornale cartaceo al mattino rimane un’abitudine praticamente inviolata, una piccola porzione dei nuovi fruitori del web sembra approfondire le notizie apprese dai giornali, e più in generale dai media tradizionali, sul web, informandosi in particolar modo su salute, economia, politica e meteo.
