Un anno in cui a dettare legge dall’inizio sono state le solite baronìe, che organizzano il loro consenso con clientele ormai più che decennali e sempre più approssimative (i fondi pubblici non sono quelli di una volta), che le pensano tutte per bloccare ogni cambiamento. un anno in cui a prolificare è stato l’interesse personale su quello generale, con conflitti di interesse in espansione come l’arroganza di chi li impone. E’ completamente mancato l’ascolto della cittadinanza, la selezione meritocratica, il senso del ridicolo, la trasparenza, il lumicino di una speranza da cui tirare su qualcosa di concreto: hanno spadroneggiato parrocchie e parrocchiette, furbastri e opportunisti, bande assetate di potere che hanno occupato completamente la scena non facendo in modo che le energie migliori di Viterbo potessero trovare spazio. Mendicanti travestiti da maitre a penser, da creativi da avanspettacolo di periferia, da spocchiosi affermatori di se stessi dal fascino e dallo spessore di un contenitore vuoto. Non è questo che merita la città dei Papi, in virtù della sua storia, della sua fotogenica bellezza senza tempo, delle mille attitudini che ha ricevuto come suo patrimonio genetico: non merita questi mediocri figuranti che non passeranno mai alla storia, se non di chi l’ha fatta precipitare nel fondo. Non ha bisogno di affaristi senza scrupoli, di venditori di pacchi vuoti, ma di gente che la ami e che sappia anche anteporla a se stessa se necessario: per questo è giusto che i mendicanti e i profanatori vengano allontanati al più presto dal tempio, dall’indignazione popolare, pacifica, attiva, decisa.
