E hanno tradito tutti i loro elettori. Si legge su certi sondaggi che il movimento abbia perso 3 milioni di voti in un mese, dato forse gonfiato, ma non così inattendibile. Renzi è furioso. Aveva promesso una rapida approvazione della legge così da portarla come un trofeo nella prossima campagna elettorale delle amministrative, ossia il primo vero test elettorale sul suo governo.
Una chiara scelta laica avrebbe potuto ricompattare intorno al partito molti elettori di “sinistra” delusi profondamente dalla politica del suo governo. Non gli sarà possibile. Era questo il grande risultato che il movimento di Grillo si riproponeva di ottenere? Se è così hanno davvero capito poco della politica. Il massimalismo cieco spalancò le porte al fascismo.
La legge potrebbe sprofondare appesantita da centinaia di emendamenti e poi essere impallinata in aula. Al momento tutto è ancora possibile ma personalmente dubito che possa andare in porto. Questo paese non è pronto per chiare scelte di laicità. Anzi, sarebbe forse il caso di dire che è la classe politica ad essere indietro rispetto al sentiment del paese, come già fu ai tempi del divorzio e poi dell’aborto.
Il paese non si riconosce nella sua classe politica per la quale, con molte buone ragioni, può solo nutrire la più profonda disistima, tanto per usare un eufemismo. I 5 Stelle che pure avevano raccolto milioni di voti hanno assurdamente sperperato un patrimonio di consensi.
Se Renzi è furioso può consolarsi osservando il deserto che ha intorno: tutti i suoi avversari politici sono messi peggio e le ultimissime notizie sulle tangenti in Lombardia potrebbero dare il colpo di grazia alla Lega che aveva trovato nuovo vigore sfruttando accortamente le paure destate dall’immigrazione. Renzi, che pure piace sempre meno non solo ai vecchi militanti CGIL ma anche ai salotti della finanza, si ergerà come un gigante in questo desolato deserto, campione del “maleminore”, eroe del “menopeggio”.
Ma intanto la laicità dello Stato diventa sempre più una chimera in questa Italia bigotta che si allontana sempre più dall’Europa. Dove la sinistra preferisce diventare democristiana piuttosto che modernamente socialdemocratica. Vediamo quale sarà l’esito delle votazioni di oggi ma senza farsi troppe illusioni. Ebbene sì, moriremo democristiani! Averlo saputo prima! Pensare che avevo pure lo zio prete!
